Flaxseed oil, derived from the seeds of the flax plant (Linum usitatissimum), is gaining recognition as a valuable supplement for dogs. Packed with essential nutrients, flaxseed oil offers numerous benefits to canine health.

Promotes Healthy Skin and Coat:

Flaxseed oil is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, specifically alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). These essential fatty acids play a crucial role in maintaining healthy skin and a lustrous coat for dogs.

Omega-3 fatty acids are known for their anti-inflammatory properties, which can help alleviate skin conditions in dogs, including allergies, dermatitis, and hot spots. By reducing inflammation, flaxseed oil may help relieve itching, redness, and irritation, promoting healthier skin overall.

Flaxseed oil’s omega-3 fatty acids also contribute to a dog’s coat health. These fatty acids help nourish the hair follicles, promoting a shiny, soft, and lustrous coat. Regular supplementation with flaxseed oil may improve the appearance and texture of a dog’s fur, reducing dryness and brittleness.

Dogs supplemented with flaxseed oil may experience reduced shedding. The omega-3 fatty acids in flaxseed oil help strengthen hair follicles, reducing hair loss and excessive shedding. This benefit is especially significant for dog breeds prone to shedding, such as Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds, and Siberian Huskies.

Supports Joint Health and Mobility:

Flaxseed oil’s omega-3 fatty acids offer notable benefits for a dog’s joint health and mobility.

Inflammatory conditions, such as arthritis, can cause pain and discomfort in dogs, hindering their mobility. Flaxseed oil’s omega-3 fatty acids possess anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce joint inflammation, easing pain and enhancing joint function. Regular supplementation can support a dog’s overall joint health and improve mobility, especially in older dogs or those with pre-existing joint conditions.

Omega-3 fatty acids found in flaxseed oil contribute to the formation and maintenance of healthy cartilage in dogs. Cartilage acts as a cushion between bones, reducing friction and preventing joint damage. By supporting cartilage health, flaxseed oil may help prevent the progression of joint degeneration and age-related conditions, such as osteoarthritis.

Flaxseed oil’s lubricating properties can benefit dogs with joint issues. The omega-3 fatty acids help maintain proper joint lubrication, reducing friction between bones and improving joint flexibility. This lubricating effect can alleviate discomfort, enhance mobility, and contribute to a better quality of life for dogs.

Boosts Overall Health and Immunity:

In addition to promoting skin and joint health, flaxseed oil offers several other benefits that contribute to a dog’s overall well-being and immune system. Flaxseed oil contains various antioxidants and immune-boosting properties that can strengthen a dog’s immune system, helping them stay healthy and ward off illnesses.

Incorporating flaxseed oil into a dog’s diet can provide numerous benefits, including promoting healthy skin and coat, supporting joint health and mobility, and boosting overall health and immunity.

A quality flaxseed oil supplement like CEN Oil – High Omega 3 For Dogs can be a valuable addition to your dog’s overall wellness regimen, promoting their health and vitality.

Why CEN Oil is More Effective than Other Oil for Dogs?

CEN Oil is the best oil choice for dogs due to its high Omega 3 levels. Most oils contain Omega 6 and 9 but low Omega 3 (coconut oil contains no Omega 3 and is mainly saturated fat). Many oils are available on the market with an unnatural Omega profile, with higher levels of Omega 6 to Omega 3.

“Omega 3s block the formation of inflammatory molecules that are readily formed from Omega 6’s. Take a close look at the fat sources you are feeding to confirm that enough Omega 3’s are in the diet.”

Science Reference

The National Research Council recommends up to 440 mg/kg bodyweight of Omega 3 ALA can be safely fed daily to your dog. (5) Higher amounts of dietary Omega 3 ALA, as well as decreased Omega 6 LA, resulted in increased conversion of ALA to EPA, DPA and DHA. (1,2) Eicosanoids are hormone-like substances that affect inflammation. They are produced from both ALA (less inflammatory) and LA (mostly pro-inflammatory). CEN Oil can help to improve dietary Omega 3 to Omega 6 to a less inflammatory profile. Dog diets that are high in Omega 6 LA and low in Omega 3 ALA drive the eicosanoid production towards a more inflammatory profile. Studies have demonstrated that when dogs were fed a diet containing linseed providing 10.1% of total fatty acids from ALA, the blood levels of EPA and DPA increased quickly, further studies have found that DPA is the main ALA metabolite in cell membranes of many animals, and as such it may be an important reservoir for either EPA or DHA synthesis. (3,6) Dogs have been shown to be able to convert DPA to DHA in the retina and presumably other nervous system tissues. (4) References: 1. Brenna JT, et al.
